VISIT COOBERRIE PARK WILDLIFE SANCTUARY

“You can cuddle a koala, hold a crocodile, snake or lizard, play with birds, interact with playful monkeys and hand feed kangaroos AND we can be found just 28 minutes from Rockhampton and 15 minutes from Yeppoon Beach.

At Cooberrie Park Wildlife Sanctuary our friends become yours. Enjoy a day with our friendly residents. Pet, feed and interact with kangaroos, koalas, possums, birds, snakes, reptiles, and a whole lot more!

Cooberrie Park began as a botanical garden more than 100 years ago. There are a number of very old European and South American trees at the park, as the original owner was a European Botanist.

Then, 45 years ago animals started to arrive and visitors were able to visit and interact with the wildlife. To this day, Cooberrie Park has adopted the same ethos inviting visitors to get up close and interact with a wide range of animals.
Cooberrie Park is open plan and the kangaroos have 25 acres to explore!

Cooberrie Park is a wildlife sanctuary and takes care of sick, injured and orphaned wildlife that are then rehabilitated and released back to the wild. These animals are victims of car hits, dog and cat attacks, along with birds falling out of nests, sick and abandoned animals. Once recuperated, Cooberrie Park permanently houses wildlife that can’t be released back to the wild and houses rescued animals from all across Australia, including animals from the RSPCA along with confiscated illegal wildlife.

ADOPT-AN-ANIMAL & SPONSORSHIP PROGRAMS

Help us help our wildlife. Every year we receive many new injured, abandoned and neglected animals, and we want to help them all. However, Cooberrie Park receives no Government funding and relies solely on admission and donations, so please help us – we can’t do it without you!
Every year Wildlife Rehabilitation HQ Inc. take care of more than 150 sick, injured or orphaned animals that are later released back to the wild. Sadly, this number is only increasing each year.
Our greatest expenses come in the form of;
Marsupial Milk – Veterinary treatment – Specialist food – Heat equipment – Enclosures
To give you a small indication of the costs involved in helping our Native Wildlife, it costs an average of $1200 per Joey Kangaroo and $250 each bird, this is not including all the Volunteer and Wildlife Keepers time.
Last year Cooberrie Park contributed an additional $30,000 to the kind donations received that financial year.
Wildlife Rehabilitation HQ Inc. receives no government support and relies on the generosity of the community.
To meet growing demand on our services, we would dearly love your help.
Donate to our not-for-profit organisation and help care for Australia’s sick, injured and orphaned animals.”
