Great Keppel Island Tours departing from Yeppoon!

Great Keppel Island Tours

Why tour with us? The best and only way to see the islands is by water and so the Keppel Explorer was conceived to help travellers make the most of their holiday to Great Keppel Island. Historically, the only way to access the other islands and remote parts of GKI was limited to locals who bring their own boats. So, we brought a 12 seat sightseeing boat just for you! Oh, and we personalise and customise every tour to your needs in a small group. We also provide you something no other operator offers; an all-in-one Island hopping tour exploring secluded locations & circumnavigating Great Keppel Island…as well as snorkelling with turtles and colourful coral away from the crowds! This tour was made just for you!

Scenic Cruising, Immersive experiences & Time on the Islands

Your tour includes time on secluded islands, beaches, secret locations & as much snorkelling as you can handle.

Smaller boat, smaller groups

The Explorer has only 12 seats so you’ll receive a more personalised, tailored experience and access the normally inaccessible secret spots.

Local Island Guide

Our Skipper has the local knowledge to show you the best of The Keppels given the conditions on the day.

Is Keppel Explorer suitable for all ages & abilities?

Our boat is suitable for most ages (weather permitting) except guests with back/neck/hip pain or spinal injuries or who are pregnant. If you are concerned about the weather conditions for the date that you are travelling, or wish to speak to one of our friendly office team about young or senior passengers, please call us on 0477 848 848

What should I bring?

You will be exposed to the elements so we ask that you bring the following in a small bag as deck space is limited (see below for details):

  • Hat
  • Sunglasses
  • Reef safe sunscreen/zinc
  • Water – an adequate amount in a reusable bottle
  • Camera
  • Thongs/sandals

Optional:

  • Snorkel gear (if you have your own)
  • Wetsuit (if you have your own)
  • Dry bag (if you have your own)
  • Reusable coffee cup/thermos if you’d like to get a coffee before the tour
  • Snack if required

Lunch is provided but bring snacks if required. Waterproof cameras such as GoPro’s are ideal but we also recommend to buy a waterproof holder for you smartphone because it’s probably going to get wet! Depending on weather conditions, there will be a small amount of spray fluctuating to a complete soaking however we do provide super dry marine jackets to keep you warm and dry. Bare feet is preferred for the boat as thongs/flip flops are a tripping hazard but they are highly recommended to bring in order to walk on some parts of the islands where the sand is hot in Summer or there may be thorns in the grass. We also provide wetsuit tops and thermals for snorkelling in Winter but if you have your own wetsuit or snorkelling gear then best to bring it.
