River Festival!

The Fitzroy River has been the lifesource for the people of Central Queensland since the time of the Dreaming. In a celebration of its glory, and its strength to support the community, Rockhampton Regional Council launched Rockhampton River Festival in 2014.

The three-day celebration leverages the riverbank’s stunning natural and built heritage to forge fond and fun memories in the minds of many. The festival will embrace these foundations to offer more arts, culture, entertainment, food and enjoyment for visitors.

Each year up to 100,000 people go through the gates of the Rockhampton River Festival with many of them being visitors to our wonderful region. Rockhampton River Festival is the perfect excuse to take some time to explore Rockhampton and we look forward to welcoming you to our region.

Stop, see, stay. You’ll be surprised. Full-bull adventures, trophy Barramundi to be caught right in the front of the Rockhampton CBD Riverfront Precinct, world-class mountain bike trails, strong indigenous culture, events to rival those of Australia’s big cities, a significant art collection that includes some of Australia’s greats, heritage and history, a zoo, nature day-trips that surround the city, distilleries, breweries, bars and eateries all over town, and 300 days of sunshine a year, it’s a destination to stop, see and stay all year round.
