Capricorn Writers Festival!

For director Nene Davies, the idea of starting a writers festival here on the Capricorn coast grew from when her family opened Chapter Books and Coffee in 2017. Fuelled by a passion for promoting books, writing and reading, Nene then happened across a couple of fellow writers at book club, who agreed that a writers festival was a great idea. This group of three grew to a committee of six and the wheels were set in motion for the dream to become a reality. The committee have brought local and Australia-wide authors, publishing professionals and creatives together, to share their passion and love of the arts at a festival not seen in this region before. The committee hopes the Capricorn Coast Writers Festival will help to support and further develop creativity and the arts in Central Queensland and is excited to showcase this beautiful corner of the world.

In addition to a range of craft workshops for writers both experienced and emerging, we have panel discussions and book signings for those of you who are readers and enjoy meeting and listening to authors talk about their books, their lives and their careers.

The Capricorn Coast Writers Festival aims to foster the importance of books and reading by bringing together an exciting mix of authors, editors, publishers and industry professionals from all over Australia and our own community, to share their vast wealth of knowledge and passion. Join us for a jam-packed weekend of learning, curiosity and inspiration – all against the backdrop of the beautiful Capricorn Coast.  Write in our own backyard!
